What exactly is “food” anyway? Many people would say that food is “fuel” (and they would be partially correct!). But food is also so much more. It is culture, social interactions, emotions….but ultimately, food is “information.” Food tells your body what to do. When you eat a piece of food….your body reacts to that food in a certain way. It can build things up, break things down, replenish, store, revive, make you sluggish, give you gas, nourish your skin, etc…So when we eat food, it is much more than just sticking calories into our mouth. It might be wise to be thoughtful and intentional about how that food will affect your body. So when we eat, we can think, “Is this going to help or harm my body? How will eating this affect my productively, mood, or energy level?

I once heard renown motivational speaker, Tony Robbins, say, "Motion creates emotion." I couldn't agree more with this statement! Exercise and movement helps to promote brain health and well-being through the release of chemicals throughout your brain and body. I believe that "feelings" is an often overlooked part of wellness. We are often too hard on ourselves and rely on grit, hard work, and will power. However, we often neglect to process how we are actually feeling (over-stressed, overworked, overtired, over-pressured, overwhelmed) and how that impacts our nutrition and fitness. Your mind is an incredibly powerful organ and it can help or hurt progress if we don't take time to give it the respect it deserves. Giving attention to the connection between our mind/heart and our nutrition/fitness is a critical piece of the puzzle.

Everyone knows that they “should” eat healthier or “exercise more.” But let’s be honest…life tends to get in the way. Being a busy parent, stressed out professional, or a retired grandparent can feel like everything takes priority over your own health.
Between balancing the kids' schedules, meeting a deadline, or worrying about paying the bills (or maybe not having the energy, motivation, or know-how to get started) we tend to think that “being healthy” is too time-consuming, expensive, and difficult. However, intuitively, we all know that we are supposed to eat salads over Snickers and that we would feel so much better, productive, and energized if we were able to eat healthier and exercise more.
I can relate to how tempting it is to eat junk food. I used to be addicted to the 20-piece McNugget on my way home from work or a few cans of soda to help get me through the day. Maybe sprinkle in a good ol' donut (or two), pack of cookies, or a milkshake as a way to boost my mood. However, as I became increasingly self-aware of the harmful effects that certain foods and a sedentary lifestyle had on both my body and my brain, I started to make some changes. I realized that all the "junk food" created a "junk mood."
I’ve taken the time to immerse myself into this passion of helping others achieve better eating habits and get into shape. Listening to podcasts, reading books, watching educational videos, completing courses, and engaging in discussions has become my main forms of entertainment (geeky, I know…haha).
So that’s why I decided to start helping others through developing a comprehensive program designed to focus on three main parts of wellness: Food, Fitness, & Feelings. Whether you are a beginner coming off the couch or an experienced athlete, everything is broken down into simple steps.
